Message From the Principal

The Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu is a Catholic, Jesuit college preparatory school with a distinct Chinese-Filipino heritage and character. Through the Senior High School program, our school continues to provide students with excellent education, leadership formation and commitment to service as we form witnesses of God’s light and love to the world.

The Senior High School Program exemplifies the 7 core values in its curriculum. As graduate-Ateneo-Hearters, when students finish Grade 12, we envision them to be inspired and ignited with the gift of St. Ignatius to humanity, the gift of Ignatian Spirituality.

In developing globally competitive leaders, opportunities and activities for students to grow are indispensable. These opportunities of the Senior High School not only direct toward a depth of knowledge (of a strand or discipline) but also its actual practice or immersion in the reality of the industry, enterprise or community.

Not just graduates for college, but Ateneo-Hearters equipped to make a mark as they pursue university baccalaureate degrees and life careers.

We say a resounding YES to forming Ateneo Hearter senior high students ready for college, for work and for life.

Always Magis, always Lux Oriens, always Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam!

Ignatian Lecture Series

In celebration of the 20th year of John Paul II’s encyclical “Fides et Ratio”—a seminal document that explored the complex relation between Religion, Science, and Philosophy—the theme involved interrogating “Religion, Philosophy, and Science: Remembering John Paul II’s Fides et Ratio @ 20”.

Rev. Fr. Ramon Echica, SthD, who earned his doctorate in Sacred Theology at the Katholieke Universiteite Luvein, Belgium and the current Dean of Studies of the San Carlos Major Seminary, clarified on the various ways how Religion and Science relate and emphasised on a relationship that Integrate Faith and Reason.

Mr. Rhoderick John Abellanosa, the HUMMS cluster head and the World Religions teacher to the HUMSS student, reminded STEM students and teachers that only by posing Religious and Philosophical Questions can Science maintain its “Sapiential Nature”, its pursuit for Truth.

Student Activity Program

The Student Activity Program provides opportunities for students to enrich their classroom experience and non-academic endeavors in order to help them realize their potential while preparing them for the college level and beyond.

Student-initiated Organizations

Orgs

The organizations in our school’s senior high are student-initiated and student-centered. This means that the ideas behind the orgs and the passion for these causes start with the students.

They present a formal pitch to the administrators and administrators, in turn, will decide if and when they make the org official.

Curriculum Enrichment Program

CEP

The Senior High sees a big shift for the CEP program from clubs to electives. These electives are strand-related subjects that are offered at the University level to give our students an edge for college by exposing them to the basic concepts and microskills required for these tertiary courses. We hope to bridge the gap between basic education and higher education by ensuring a seamless progression of skills and content knowledge from basic to specialized disciplines.
