The Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu celebrates Ignatian Heroes’ Appreciation Day (IHEAD) on Friday, October 2. “This is our gesture of thanking our teachers and all those involved in the ministry of forming young minds become men and women for others,” HR Director Rhoderick John Abellanosa said.
The school community will convene online for a Holy Mass at 8:00AM that will be presided by Fr. Gilbert Emmanuel Levosada, S.J., the school’s Director for Formation. The mass will be streamed over the school’s YouTube channel and Facebook Page. A highlight of the celebration is the recognition of twenty members of the school as Service Awardees and a special thanksgiving for the anniversaries as Jesuits of two pillars of the school in former school president Fr. Ernesto Javier, SJ and Fr. Julian Hernando SJ.
“Our celebration is doubly significant in that we shall honor twenty (20) members of our school community who are this year’s Service Awardees, and at the same time thank the Lord for the 70th anniversary as a Jesuit of our beloved Fr. Ernesto Javier SJ, who served as School Director from 1991 up to 2009, and the 75th anniversary as a Jesuit of Fr. Julian Hernando, SJ, who spent over 40 years with the school in various positions,” Abellanosa added.
There will be no classes after the mass and online ceremony, in observance of the celebration.
