iLead: All Right and All Set

Parents of our pupils who will join the iLEAD for school year 2015-2016 had an orientation last July 4, 2015 at the Victoria Chiongbian Theater with the Grade 6 advisers and RAFI-KAC facilitators. It is but fitting to prepare not only the participants of the program but their parents as well.

To put things in a clearer perspective, the Integrated Learning through Adventure Education (iLEAD) is one of the academic ventures of Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu for the Grade 6 pupils. It is a two-day adventure-based education program with the focus on building strong character, developing competence, and inspiring active citizenship and leadership. This program is also a close collaboration with the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Incorporated (RAFI) Education Development Unit.

The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. – Kool Adventure Camp (RAFI-KAC) adventure education aims to create a deeper understanding of the school’s 7 core Ignatian values (7Cs), hone leadership qualities, nurture interpersonal skills, and provide opportunities for the relevant application of knowledge and skills. In line with the objectives stated, our adventure education program hopes to exhibit outcomes that make use of their knowledge and skills learned in the areas of Language and Filipino, Mathematics, Science, CLF, and Social Studies.

Part and parcel of the implementation of the program is the orientation of the parents of the participants. The parents were oriented about the program’s rationale, design, places that their children will visit, the different activities that they will go through, the learning that comes together with those activities, and the expected output (both short and long terms).

Concerns were then settled. Questions were satisfactorily answered. Clarifications were responded immediately. And the meeting was adjourned as the parents go separate ways with enthusiasm, yet secured dispositions.
