A symposium on Health and Sexuality was held last August 18, 2015 by the Parents-Teachers Association of Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu in cooperation with the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynocological Society (POGS) in the school theater. This is the second consecutive year of the symposium attended by the Grade 10 students.
This year’s theme is 50 Shades of Gray: Health Risks and Issues. The speakers from POGS, Dr. Vanessa Carido, Dr. FLorencia Miel, Dr. Joannes Alegado, and Dr. Asuncion Tremedal covered topics on adolescence and the puberty stage, awareness on sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), and empowerment of the youth on saying ‘No’ to premarital sex. The symposium aimed to make students be aware of their bodies and sexualities and make good life choices.
This coming October, there will be another symposium on Anti-Substance Abuse to be attended by the Grade 9 and Grade 10 students.
