The school offers not only excellent education but also forms servant leaders for the greater glory of God.

Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu — Grade School Department formally launched the Math and Science Week last September 22, 2015 at the Magis Eagles Arena. Mr. Glen C. Delator, the Science Area Coordinator, labeled the week as “STEM Week”. STEM, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, has the goal of raising awareness of the beauty of Science and the fun in Math. During the launching, selected pupils from Gr. 4, 5, and 6 stirred the audience through the different Science experiment demonstrations. After which, Mr. Delator presented an array of activities that were the offshoots of the second quarter lessons in Science.
These are the following:
Grade 6 – Healthy Drink Demo Fest (which is linked to their performance task on Mixtures)
Grade 5 and Grade 3 – Micro teaching (which has parallel topics on Changes in Matter)
Grade 4 — Science Challenge (which serves as an avenue for pupils to apply their Gr. 4 Science lessons)
The Atenistang MensaHero was also formally launched on that day. This campaign carries the three-pronged objectives: (ecological) to recover plastic bottles for them to be recycled,(nation-building) to voice out and share the Ateneo Hearter’s thoughts and opinions, (health) to raise funds to buy soap for the school’s rest rooms. In line with this campaign is the Paperless Garbage Campaign wherein pupils are encouraged to reuse and recycle the pieces of paper that they have already used by not throwing them into the trash bins. These two campaigns will be observed all throughout the school year.
The Launching of the STEM week was ended by a Math trivia facilitated by the Math Area Coordinator, Mr. Anthony Hejie Suralta. Right after the Math trivia, Mr. Suralta presented the set of activities in line with Mathematics. These are the following:
Gr. 1 to 3 – Math Olympics
Gr. 4 to 6 – Soduko Challenge
Indeed, September 21 to 24, 2015 was a busy yet fun-filled week for the Grade School Ateneo Hearters. Learning Science and Math was made meaningful for it was connected to real life.
