ON the final day of competitions of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) athletics event, it was University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors who proved its dominance with two overall titles, but it was the Sacred Heart School—Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC), that gave the most thrilling performance that led to their winning their second straight title in the secondary girls division yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.

As the tournament was winding down, the medal tally of the secondary girls division showed that SHS-AdC and first day leader the University of Cebu were tied for the top spot with six gold medals each. And it was only the 4×400 meter relay that stood between them and the overall title. SHS-AdC head coach Presing Capampangan told the team to give it their all and the team of Brittney Moira Cañete, Leanna Angela Ramos, Pearl Angeline Abellar, Carmela Therese Dublin and Catherine Dalle Mayol understood the importance of the girls’ last event and were flying from the get go and clocked four minutes 23.90 seconds to win the 4×400 and the coveted secondary girls title.
“The 4×400 was crucial and I instructed them to go all out and they responded with an emphatic performance. I’m happy that we won back-to-back title,” the SHS-AdC athletics head coach Presing Capampangan.

The SHS-AdC took the overall title with a 7-6-4 gold-silver-bronze medal haul, while UC settled for second with 6-5-8. USC-Basic Education came in at third with 3-5-4.
