These were the sort of questions Ateneo Hearters were faced with during the Ignatian Eloquentia Cup 2016, Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu Junior High School’s annual extemporaneous speaking competition in honor of St. Ignatius of Loyola. This year’s theme was “Celebrating Ateneo Hearter Eloquence the Ignatian Way”. The contest was held at the School Theater on July 26 for grades 7 and 8 and July 28 for grades 9 and 10. All the contestants were judged based on their matter/content (50%) and manner of speaking (50%).

This year’s grade 7 Eloquentia Cup Winners are the following:
2nd runner up: Jose Emmanuel Canete from Grade 7 – St. Peter Claver
1st runner up: John Jordan Tunacao from Grade 7 – St. Robert Bellarmine
Champion: Johanna Therese Ehido from Grade 7 – St. John de Brebeuf

Grade 8:
2nd runner up: Ellen Joy Quibod of Grade 8 – St. John Berchmans
1st runner up: Catherine Dalle Mayol of Grade 8 – St. Paul Miki
Champion: Jason Richard Hyland of Grade 8 – Bl. James Sales

Grade 9:
2nd runner up: Niah Lei Marie Llegunas of Grade 9 – St. Joseph Pignatelli
1st runner up: Kirk Lance Cuizon, also from Grade 9 – St. Joseph Pignatelli
Champion: Karla Virginia Cabatana of Grade 9 – St. Isaac Jogues

Grade 10
2nd runner up: Jelord Sevilles of Grade 10 – St. Ignatius of Loyola
1st runner up: Denise Beluan of Grade 10 – St. Peter Faber
Champion: Vincent Joshua Adlaon of Grade 10 – St. Peter Canisius

All the winners received a certificate, a cash prize and a medal.
